Intro

On Saturday I finished my second half marathon. The Gandy Dancer Trail Run in Luck, Wi. It is the third half marathon in the past 10 years. My finishing time was 2:03:33. I was hoping to be under two hours. Jill also ran it. It was a beautiful day. About 300 runners ran the 3 races, full, half and 5k. It was nice to have a local run where we knew many different people.
A month ago Jill and I also did a fun Triathlon in Luck. I really enjoyed that. It was a 2 mile kayak paddle, 16 mile bike ride and a 5 mile trail run around the Luck golf course. I enjoyed the challenge. I am working on being more active and slimming down. I have lost 25 pounds since last Spring.
I am hoping I can stay active during the Winter months and continue to get into the best shape of my life. Winters have always been my worst time of year.
I am starting this Blog to keep motivated and record my progress. I have some goals for 2015. In February I will be skiing the Birkie in Hayward, WI for my first time. My stepson, son in-law, and nephew are also going to ski. They are going to skate ski while I am sticking with the classic ski.
In May, Jill, Max and I are hoping to go to Arizona and hike the Grand Canyon, Rim to Rim in a day. We will be doing this with Nephew Ben and his wife Julia and possibly my Step Son Will and his wife Missi. Ben and Julia live in Phoenix and Julia has been doing the R2R for many years.
I am thinking about training for Grandma's Marathon in June. I need to decide soon on this in order to get registered before they are full. My last Marathon was the Ashland Whistle Stop about 10 years ago. I swore I would never do another one. 4 hours of running is a long time. 2 hours suck! I thought if I am in Birkie shape in March, the R2R will be doable. It is suppose to be like a marathon. That makes me think that Grandma's Marathon shouldn't be so bad. Jill ran the half last year in Duluth and really enjoyed it.
